In that layer, you are going to trace with the PEN TOOL around my face, arm and chest. TO USE PEN TOOL: Please note the above bar and make sure you select what you see: To get this following image, you are required to trace the image entirely: TIP: (If you don't know how to use PEN TOOL, to create a curve, you need to hold down ALT while positioning the anchor points, a really good PEN TOOL Tutorial can be found here.
With this opened, we are going to fill the path with a color. So Right CLICK (CMD CLICK on a MAC) to open the menu that you see on the image to the right. "FILL PATH." You might use this alot so please REMEMBER THIS STEP.
...and the Color palette will show up, you can either use the EYEDROPPER TOOL on the image that is opened, or you can choose any color that you want as a skin tone. This is how mine looks: I know that it doesn't look like much right now, however - have faith in this tutorial. DO NOT WORRY THAT THE SKIN ISN'T COVERED COMPLETELY. The Color I used is #9d6a57. It really doesn't have to match right now but this is for you overachievers. TIP: If you notice at the image to the left, you can completely fill everywhere because you are actually going to hide the layer and build on top of it. Now let's hide this layer, on the Layer Palette, click the EYE next to the layer that I called "Base Colors."
We are going to work on the larger sections first so let's work on the hair. TIP: If you are still seeing the PATHS, you could delete them by going to the same Path Window and clicking the trash can that displays on the layer. However, it's suggested that you look at the main bar (that you see on the image all the way to the top of this page under the header, and uncheck where it says, " AUTO/ADD DELETE." However, it's important to have it checked if you want to select more than one area in PATHS at a time (I KEEP MINE CHECKED).
